Awareness Session: The Right to Vote and Political Participation of the Immigrant Population in Portugal
Active participation in the community and the exercise of citizenship are fundamental pillars for the integration of the immigrant population in Portugal. With the aim of informing the immigrant population residing in Portugal about their political rights, an informational session will be held to explain the legal framework and practical procedures regarding the right to vote in the country.
During the session, the eligibility criteria for different elections will be discussed, as well as a step-by-step guide to registering to vote at the parish councils (Juntas de Freguesia). The initiative also aims to promote discussion on the importance of representation and the impact of local decisions on the daily lives of all residents.
The session is open to the entire community and provides an opportunity to ask questions, learn about legal deadlines, and understand how each citizen’s voice can influence the future of the municipality.
