AD-SUMUS, the Immigrant Association of Almada, is a non-profit association set up by individuals in 2014. It focuses on the principle of solidarity, with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as a fundamental reference for its actions. The Association’s intervention is geared towards promoting the rights and duties of immigrants and their descendants in everything that concerns their full integration into portuguese society, focusing on everything that concerns their appreciation and equal opportunities, fostering closer relations with the host society, civic participation, as well as preventing situations of risk of poverty and social exclusion and improving their living conditions. In pursuit of its mission, AD- SUMUS, which is essentially aimed at third-country nationals, has set itself up as a multidimensional intervention response, developing initiatives of a social and cultural nature that are, however, underpinned by the social and individual specificities that each person presents in their process of integration into the host society.
